The Shield - Season 6: Channel Premiere
June 24, 2010
Oscar® winner Forest Whitaker returns in the role of Jon Kavanaugh in Season Six of the powerful drama series The Shield which sees a devastated Vic (Michael Chiklis) resolved to track down Lem’s killer while also attempting to salvage his own career. Set in the tough, morally ambiguous surroundings of an inner-city Los Angeles police precinct, this critically acclaimed series breaks the conventions of the cop genre, exposing a world in which the line between good and evil is crossed daily. His portrayal of Detective Vic Mackey, an effective but maverick cop who leads the elite Strike Team, has won Chiklis both Emmy® and Golden Globe® Awards.
Picking up from Season Five’s cliff-hanging closing episode, the tension continues to mount in the first episode of Season Six, as Shane (Walton Goggins) struggles to cope with his guilt after learning that Kavanaugh planted the lie that led him to kill his friend and fellow cop. Meanwhile, Kavanaugh does everything he can think of to discredit the Strike Team, including planting evidence and coercing a trusted informant. Unaware of the killer’s identity, Vic sets out to prove that it was mobster Guardo Lima who killed Lem and discovers, too late, that he’s made a fatal mistake. When Shane turns to the Armenians for protection he soon finds his misplaced faith has put the Mackey family in grave danger.
